Ways to Give

Using our online donation form is one of the quickest and easiest ways to contribute to the Halls. Donate here.
You can choose to make a donation to our organization via a wire transfer. For banking details, please contact our team at supporters@mh-rth.com.
Donations of publicly-traded stock, mutual funds, bonds and GICs are not subject to capital gains tax, making donated stock and securities a very tax-effective way to make a gift to the Corporation. Your donation must be a transfer of the stock or security itself, not the cash proceeds of a sale of the security. Please contact us at supporters@mh-rth.com to request the appropriate form to complete your gift of stock and securities.
Many corporations encourage their employees to engage philanthropically with their community, and these donations can be allocated to Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall. You can make a donation under your employer through Benevity or United Way. If your company uses the Benevity giving portal, you can contribute by searching for “The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall.” If your company encourages annual giving through United Way, you can simply specify that your contribution be directed to The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall.
You can make a contribution directly to the Halls through third-party giving organizations, including Canada Helps and Canada Gives. When you donate through a third party, they will send you a tax receipt for gifts over $20.00.
Through a current endowment gift or a planned (deferred) gift, you can help to enrich the cultural life of our city and broader community for current and future generations.

Endowment Gifts
The Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall Foundation is a charitable organization separate from The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall. The Foundation is responsible for managing the Corporation’s endowment and exists to receive, hold, and administer gifts, providing annual support to the programs of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall.

Please consider an endowment donation to the Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall Foundation that is well-aligned with your personal interests, such as supporting Education and Outreach or Artist Development programming. A gift to the Foundation may be made in the form of cash or securities.

Planned Gifts
Planned gifts provide the opportunity for deferring an immediate gift and can provide opportunity to increase your income, earn valuable income tax deductions, and reduce your estate taxes, all while philanthropically supporting the mission of our Halls. Planned gifts include bequests, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts.

Planned gifts can directed in two ways:
1) To the Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall
2) To the Roy Thomson Hall and Massey Hall Foundation

If you are including a planned gift to either the Corporation or the Foundation in your will, you can direct your gift toward a particular fund or program (please check with us to ensure your gift can be used as intended).

You may contribute to your donor-advised fund (DAF) account and subsequently recommend distributions to our organization. Please contact your sponsoring organization to advise on donating and guidelines.

Tax benefits are received at the time of donation to the DAF. For this reason, DAF donors will receive a tax receipt from their sponsoring organization.

If you have made a donation of $20.00 or more, you will receive a tax receipt by email.
Tax receipts are sent by email within two weeks of your donation. If you have contributed to the Halls through a third-party organization or a donor advised fund, you will receive your tax receipt from the third party or sponsoring organization. Please connect with us at supporters@mh-rth.com if you would like to receive your tax receipt by mail or have not received your tax receipt within two weeks.
For donors who make a cumulative or one-time contribution of $1000.00 or more, you will be recognized on our website, our donor wall in Massey Hall, and in our annual reports.
Yes, you can make major gifts in multiple installments. Please connect with us at supporters@mh-rth.com if you would like to make a contribution in installments.
Yes, we are happy to accommodate those who want to make a monthly or annual recurring gift. Please connect with us at supporters@mh-rth.com if you would like to make a recurring gift.
