DESJARDINS GROUP CELEBRATES A 3-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH MASSEY HALL & ROY THOMSON HALL’S SHARE THE MUSIC
HELPS THE MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM SOAR TO NEW HEIGHTS IN THE FIRST YEAR OF PARTNERSHIP

Over 3,200 students and community group members given free tickets to mainstage performances throughout the 2022-2023 season.

(Toronto, Ontario - September 25, 2023)The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall celebrates a 3-year deal with Desjardins Group as the exclusive presenting partner of the Share the Music program. Now in its 24th year, Share The Music allows students and local community groups free access to live events and meaningful pre-show workshops at the two iconic Halls.

“At Desjardins, we’re committed to supporting youth in the realization of their projects, their dreams and their greatest ambitions,” said Marilyn Horrick, Senior Vice President, Ontario Market, Desjardins Group. “Through this partnership with Share the Music we have the opportunity to give young people access to interactive musical experiences and workshops that help to enrich their knowledge of music while also introducing them to local artists within the community.”

Desjardins and Share the Music’s exclusive partnership began at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school season and with their support the program reached new heights and hosted over 3,200 students and community members to free concerts and music workshops – the most in the program’s 24-year history.

“As a charitable non-profit organization, partnering with brands that share our passion for supporting the communities that we serve is paramount,” said Jennifer Shah, Director of Corporate Partnerships, The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall. “Desjardins is well known for their support of youth initiatives, and we are thrilled to have them as our Lead Partner for Share the Music. This partnership is only getting started, but I cannot wait to see how many more students we will reach or how our community impact will expand because of it.”

The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall is a charitable not-for-profit organization that supports numerous Education and Outreach initiatives like the Share the Music program, and focuses on the power of music to connect and inspire budding music creators. The goal is to produce programming that bring artists and audiences together through concerts, music-making, and interactive experiences.

“Share the Music offers incredible access for students to see a mainstage shows for free, but what makes this program special is that it introduces young people to music and the arts inspiring them to seek out lessons and career avenues they may not have explored otherwise,” said Vanessa Smith, Manager Education and Outreach at The Corporation of Massey Hall & Roy Thomson Hall. “Our organization wouldn’t be able to offer free Share the Music programming for all students without the generous support of Desjardins.

Other marquee education and community engagement programs running year-round include, The Lullaby Project, Call & Response, The Youth Musician Commission, Lyrics & Legacies, and LETS (Learning English Through Song).

As announced earlier this month, Share the Music and these other community programs now have a new space to call home with Allied Music Centre – home to historic Massey Hall plus, numerous purpose-built spaces like TD Music Hall, a new 100-capacity theatre, Muskoka Spirits Basement Bar, The Deane Cameron Recording studio, artist creative lounges and more.

In addition to hosting the world’s brightest talent on its stages, Allied Music Centre is designed to elevate community and education experiences and providing a professional environment that will expand and elevate existing programming and inspire new ones like new family-friendly performances, National Geographic student matinees and so much more.
